Airedale Terrier Club of Canada (ATCC)
Western Booster Weekend 2006

by Pam Sheane
ATCC Director for Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba

The weekend started cool and a little wet – par for Alberta! It was a bit cool for the humans but the dogs loved it. To start off the weekend, we all gathered for the All Terrier Club of Alberta Puppy Sweeps. There was at least one Airedale entered in each class except for two and an Airedale was the winner of each of those classes. Best in Sweeps was Monterra On A Roll from the 12 - 15 month class, bred and owned by Judy Howell of Montana and Best of Opposite was Brea’s Moonlight Romance from the 6 - 9 month class, bred and owned by Pam Sheane.

The regular classes for the Terrier Specialty started in the afternoon. We had an entry of 10 lovely Airedales with some coming from Montana, Idaho and BC. Best Breed, Best of Winners and Winners Bitch went to Am Ch Monterra Misguided Angel, bred and owned by Judy Howell. Best Opposite was Am Can Ch Indus Strike It Rich At Winsea, bred by Joanne Helm and owned by Helen Arnold. Winners Dog was Monterra On A Roll and Best Puppy went to Brea’s Moonlight Romance.

Then on to the main event on Saturday, which dawned hot and sunny. Our judge for the Booster was Doris Willis from Ontario. Everyone assembled at ring side to watch as Ms. Willis put the Airedales through their paces. After careful consideration, she selected Am Can Ch Indus Strike It Rich At Winsea for Best of Breed, Am Ch Monterra Misguided Angel for Best Opposite, Best of Winners and Winners Bitch. Reserve Winners Bitch went to Cooleamber Music Of The Night, bred and owned by Andrea Easton and Don Fance. Winners Dog was taken by Monterra On A Roll and Reserve Winners and Best Puppy was Brea’s Blame It On The Moon, bred and owned by Pam Sheane. Everyone came away with lovely prizes, with some needing two people to carry all the loot! A big thank you to everyone who helped with the organizing and set up of the Booster.

In agility, Heather Faulkner and Ch Nightsun Chasing The Dream CDX had two clean runs in Novice Standard Select to finish their first CKC agility title which is AGNS. One clean run in Novice Jumpers with Weaves Select … and one run, which was an absolute joy, when the Airedale just came flying out of Chaser! They were awarded the Memorial Poppy Trophy.

A scrumptious lunch was set up at our hospitality tent were all gathered to discuss the show, talk about dogs and visit with friends.

We had our annual BBQ at Helen Arnold’s, complete with a chocolate fondue fountain which had a steady line-up of people all night. Our silent auction was a great success with heavy bidding for the items. It was an excellent opportunity to rekindle old friendships, make new friends and talk about our favorite topic – Airedales!
