Johanne and Louise Lambert

Airedales, Airedales, Airedales!
Is there any sound more “gracious” to us? Don’t think so!

Johanne started all this: first with a German Shepherd and a few mix dogs, always coming back home with a stray dog, she got all the family into it … She started with Collies, rough coat, and Irish Terriers for a certain number of years. As our father wanted a Bouvier des Flandres, she convinced him to go for an Airedale and the rest of the story is that the Airedale breed never let us go!

I got married in 1970 and was involved in horses. When I went through my divorce, I decided that I need a good protector to stay with me, and so Johanne let me have my first Airedale female. We finally decided to join our efforts, work together and the “Kalua” from the Shepherd’s name and the “Dabsquoui” from my favorite horse’s name took life.

So, Kalua existed from 1976 and Dabsquoui from 1981. Together, we are now at 27 Conformation Champions and 10 Obedience Championships. Most of our activities are focused on Conformation Shows: we have always enjoyed the competitions, with all the good and bad that come along with them. Our goal is to keep up with “What is done best”, making every effort we can to obtain it. Every show is not only a challenge but a way to meet our fellow competitors, share experiences with them and sometimes, a good meal where “The Airedale” is the main course, of course!

We cannot talk about our most wonderful memory, because there are so many! Every day, our dogs make us laugh, and make us understand what is important in this life. Every dog we have had has shown us something. Every time we are having a litter, it is a new experience. The worst thing that might happen to us is to misplace a puppy. We are very careful in selecting our puppy buyers and we have not fallen too often upon a bad home, but one is already too much!

Our most important wish is that the Airedale breed will remain in good hands, with people who believe in them, in the way they are, with their great character and “mind of their own.” Breeders should keep their eyes on the standard and be devoted to them: they only ask to be LOVED!
